Our Vision

Enabling a Lifetime of Rapport and Enrichment

As a participant in the Hridaya Teacher Training Course, not only will you gain deep knowledge of Hridaya tenets and a certificate when you complete it, but you will make permanent and supportive connections that will bolster and light your lifelong journey of discovery and self-nurturing. Training and support doesn't simply end when the course has finished.

Transcending Traditional Frameworks of Learning

Rather than focusing on traditional classroom structures with clearly defined students and teachers, we actively seek to expand what it means to be the givers and receivers of knowledge. Learning never ends, and teaching doesn't begin just because a person has achieved a certain level of skill or experience – these roles are fluid and interactive.

Here at the HTTC, we work to transcend roles through a deep respect for different skills, personalities, experiences, perspectives as well as different types of creativity. In this nurturing, dynamic and free environment, each person's gifts will shine, fostering growth, understanding and love.

Focusing on Sattvic Characteristics and Creative Learning

Sattva, meaning serene, pure and harmonious, is at the core of our teaching and learning philosophy. By balancing order and structure with the nurturing of each person's individual style of creativity and focusing on quality over quantity, our school thrives. Our inclusive, enthusiastic, multidisciplinary approach leads to greater awareness, sensitivity and love.

Self-affirmation and Confidence

Learning how to trust and have faith in ourselves is a process that begins through a balance of purposeful surrender, a giving spirit and awareness. This kind of “selfless self-affirmation” can be found in our style of teaching as a loving offering to the spiritual Heart that goes beyond our own personal limits. We believe that if this awareness and intuition is not present in instruction, it is not possible to incite true transformation that promotes the growth of love and happiness in others.

A Foundation in Hridaya and the Heart as Authority

In contrast to other models of instruction currently in use around the world, the HTTC does not seek to support competitive attitudes in order to push people forward. Hridaya, which can be described as completely natural love and awareness, is used in conjunction with more formal teaching styles and theoretical frameworks. Love, not the institution, is the ultimate authority, and our shared roles of teachers and students all flow from this. Because emphasis is placed on nurturing the Heart rather than instilling pressure, competitiveness and comparison (Heart vs. Mind), deep learning and awareness can take place. Rather than feeling stressed, frustrated and agitated and pushed to perform better than our peers, HTTC participants learn in love, openness and self-reflection.

Hridaya Hatha Yoga Theory

Relaxation and happiness results from hatha yoga practice and should not lead to strain and pain.

Hatha yoga helps in providing a starting point in the spiritual journey, even if it might not be sufficient alone to bring about ultimate spiritual realization, it is therefore vital.

The hatha yoga helps us create a relaxation and openness required to realize the transfiguration and the body spiritual alchemy.

It is not enough to just push energy into a place, chakra or nadi, therefore with the practice of asanas we show the essence of consciousness and energy which are the two poles of correct practice.

It is through the alchemy of asana that the intuition of our true nature is revealed, so it is essential to maintain the state of witness consciousness.

Hatha Yoga – The Music of Life

In Hridaya, we express the harmony of our daily life through asana practice, the physical body is a complex instrument through which we express our existence and interact with the physical environment, just like a musical instrument we our bodies vibrate in various ways. Through asana practice we learn to bring grace, awareness and simplicity to our gestures to achieve pure presence the Heart is free of limitation of who we are and expressed naturally.

Natural Yoga of the Heart

Hridaya Yoga is of natural form it involves a free expression of energies directly from the heart, everything done in Hridaya yoga is straight from heart.

Natural Yoga is different from mechanical yoga practice in that the later only goal is pushing energy in a specific path unlike Hridaya yoga which is based on free flow of energies, this difference can be noted considering the heart and mind. When yoga is carried out mechanically is the individual will and mind.

For this reason we teach meditative attitudes which develop our inner sense of freedom, we do not teach the asana practice during our course, meditative attitude is supported and favoured by body posture, mundra and bandhas.

The ability to focus, harmoniously express our personality in daily life, increase discernment and dynamism is improved by the awareness of the spiritual heart which is the underlying background of stillness and the attitude of surrender.
